Selling at my local Christmas Market

Every year I set up my space at the local Brockagh Christmas Market, every year I seem to enjoy it even more. My intention is always the same: to share what I create, display my art, and sometimes get a little crafty by making small, affordable pieces for anyone who wants to take home something special.

In 2025, I decided to make yule logs to sell—and they were an absolute joy to create. The very first one was bought by a woman I connected with on a deeply emotional level. She shared her story with me: she and her late husband once ran a successful business selling Christmas yule logs to companies. Since then her husbank had passed from cancer and other life changes followed. The log she chose from my table reminded her of him, and buying it became an unexpectedly meaningful moment for both of us. I’ll won’t forget her or that brief encounter that carried so much weight.

As for how I did at the market—honestly, it was wonderful. I loved speaking with everyone and hearing their thoughts about my art; that interaction is something I truly cherish. My card sets sold well, and two of my paintings found new homes. Even if I hadn’t sold a single painting, I would have still considered it a successful day. One buyer, someone who purchased a piece from me many years ago, returned to buy another. That meant a lot—there’s something incredibly special about someone coming back, especially when there’s a connection built over time. It’s hard to put into words (I’m not a writer!), but it touched me deeply.

Setting up a market space takes time, and taking everything down takes even longer—but it’s worth every minute. I’m already looking forward to doing it all again.
